The Old English Mastiff better known now as the Mastiff has been around for a very long time. Caesar while out conquering England wrote about these dogs and how courageous in battle they were along with their masters. They are now a family companion dog. They are under the Working Group and are #35 in the Most Popular Breed List from the AKC. They were officially recognized by the AKC in 1885.
